Suitable for those who have attended an introductory yoga course or who wish to consolidate their yoga practice at this foundation level.

iyengar yoga level 1 - The Yoga Extension - Iyengar Yoga Classes Glasgow

Classes are for students who have attended Iyengar level 1 classes for at least a year, refining the basic asanas. Head balance will be introduced.

Classes are for students who have attended regularly for at least two years and who feel ready to begin intermediate poses and consolidate the inverted poses. Students working at this level are advised to develop a regular home practice. Classes may be up to 2 hours long to allow for a deeper practice.

Come and join Frances for our teen yoga class. Specially designed for teenagers, each 45-minute class will cover the fundamentals of yoga. Improving balance, strength and flexibility, yoga is great for people of any age and can help you navigate your way through teenage life. The classes will be fun, challenging and informative and suitable for all abilities.

Join us at the stunning Yoga Rocks retreat Centre in Triopetra, Crete, for a week of Iyengar yoga and relaxation in the sun.

“At Triopetra, daybreak washes over Cretan mountains and long sweeping beaches, while the sun sets over the sea. With no distractions and everything taken care of there is space to do nothing at all.”

Frances is a senior level 1 Iyengar yoga teacher with over 20 years of experience, which she looks forward to sharing with you. The retreat will be open to all but complete beginners in Iyengar yoga. However, we offer regular beginners workshops and courses in studio so there is plenty of time to cover the basics before the retreat.

Each day will start with a general class, working to bring improved strength and flexibility to the body. The second class of the day will be restorative. Using simple equipment and targeted poses, we’ll work to release any tension help in the body. We will ensure that you get every drop of goodness from your retreat experience!

Accommodation is in shared twin rooms, with a single supplement of *£230 if you would prefer to have your own room (6 available)

2 yoga classes per day from Sunday 13th May to Friday 18th May
All food except on Friday evening, 18th May, when we visit a local tavern.

Not included:

Suitable for those new to yoga or for those who would like to refresh their basic skills, this course is led by Charlott who will guide you through the basics of Iyengar Yoga.

Iyengar Yoga is a very safe form of yoga with emphasis on precision in poses. Students learn through a carefully graded and systematic programme of asana (posture). Practicing yoga helps you overcome and prevent many stresses, strains, aches and pains. It promotes a firm foundation for health and wellbeing.

We look forward to helping you master the fundamentals of Iyengar Yoga. The solid foundation will give you the tools to stay healthy and help you develop your practice in an interesting and enjoyable way.

Frances Beginners Yoga The Yoga Extension

Gluten free? Low Carb? No sugar? No fun?

We are delighted to be collaborating once again with The Yoga Kitchen, who will be providing a nutritious meal to compliment a specially designed yoga workshop.

Frances has been teaching Iyengar Yoga since 1997 and in 2000 graduated from the College of Natural Nutrition. Dan and Melissa from the Yoga Kitchen have been travelling around the world together since 2008, working in kitchens at eco-retreats, sustainable farms and yoga retreats and picking up amazing vegetarian recipes and inspiration along the way.

Many people now have a gluten intolerance, and some people prefer to limit the amount of carbohydrate and sugar in their diet. This workshop will offer some advice on how to incorporate this into your busy schedule. If you have a problem with digestion then it may be necessary to address these dietary changes. This workshop will give you some encouragement and confidence to make small changes with lasting effects.

All food will be vegetarian, please let me know if you have any allergies.

This is a general workshop, suitable for all levels.

11am-1pm – Energising asana practice
1-1.45pm – tea, water, discussion on the science of sugar
1.45-2.30pm – Lunch based on gluten free, vegetarian, low carbohydrate diet

This weekend of general level yoga will take place at Lerigoligan, Ardfern, a 2.5 hour drive from Glasgow. It is open to all who have completed at least one year of Iyengar yoga.

The yoga sessions will take place in the spacious studio with stunning views over the loch.

Accommodation will be in 4 shared twin bedded rooms in Lerigoligan cottage, a traditional croft house recently refurbished with underfloor heating, a log fire, and solar panels. View the gorgeous location here.

This will be a unique opportunity to deepen your knowledge of Iyengar yoga in the quiet countryside, with your mind uncluttered from day to day worries you can truly focus on the practice. Frances has over 20 years teaching experience and looks forward to guiding you through an enjoyable and relaxing weekend!
